Although Daytona State College students may be miles away from the spotlit runways of New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the inspiration drawn from NYFW filled the halls of DSC. While the collections gave us endless pieces to obsess over for Spring/Summer 2026, students were just as captivated by the street style outside the shows.
The most attended shows of Spring/Summer 2026 included those of Christian Siriano, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Coach, Ralph Lauren, and Tory Burch.

Christian Siriano presented a show-stopping collection inspired by film noir filled with bold stripes and polka dots, all in black and white. The time capsule collection reimagined simple clothing pieces such as suits, hats, dresses and heels, and turned them into exaggerated, cartoon-like statement pieces.
In contrast to Siriano’s bold black and white collection, Ralph Lauren presented a minimalist’s dream wardrobe for his Spring/Summer 2026 show. The collection embodied the feeling of a seaside summer through oversized straw hats, flowy button-up shirts, wide-leg pants, and statement accessories like chunky silver jewelry. Like Siriano, Lauren leaned into a black-and-white color palette, but added a striking pop of red that had online viewers buzzing.
Michael Kors transported viewers to a completely different side of summer. Instead of a seaside vacation, he took his collection somewhere warmer and drier, the desert. Kors’ Spring/Summer show was filled with boho-chic pieces from fringe to balloon-like pants. The collection also challenged what the summer color palette usually entails. Instead of whites, Kors’ collection included browns, dusty greens, and tans.
While designers showcased their collections inside, viewers on social media and DSC students kept tabs on the street style outside.
“I saw lots of scarves being used as belts during NYFW,” said dual enrolled student Tabitha Rowan. “It will definitely become a trend, and I will be participating because I think scarves are very versatile.”
A common trend viewers noticed was simple outfits paired with eye-catching accessories.
“I definitely enjoyed the scarves being used as belts, it adds more to the outfit,” said nursing student Marleina Caro. “I also loved seeing red being paired with neutrals, for me it just makes sense to add that pop of color to my outfit.”
Despite designers showcasing their collections for spring and summer of 2026, attendees could not resist inching closer to their fall wardrobes. From cropped jackets to denim-on-denim galore, transitional pieces alluding to what this year’s fall outfit trends might encompass caught the attention of many.

As temperatures slowly begin to dip, DSC students are already planning their fall wardrobes. “I’m excited to wear plaid, clogs, boots, and most of all, long sleeves,” said business marketing student Jack Paramour.
“I’m excited to wear lace dresses with cardigans and long skirts with oversized sweatshirts or sweaters,” said Amelia Corondo, a Quanta Honors student.
Although Florida won’t experience fall weather for a while, NYFW has already inspired DSC students to transition into fall fashion.
“I’m ready to wear cardigans, chunky sweaters, cute jackets, and even boots,” said Caro. “It’s very hot in Florida right now, so it’s not ideal to be wearing anything too thick, but I would love to incorporate maybe a puffer jacket into one of my looks when it gets cold.”
