This past Saturday, the DSC Women’s volleyball team took on #2 NJCAA ranked Miami Dade College trying to defend their home court and bounce back from a loss on the road surrendered to Florida Southwestern State (#1 ranked NJCAA). However, to no avail.
Miami Dade completed a clean sweep of the contest, winning sets 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 to shutout the Falcons. The Sharks’ key to success was forcing errors as well as getting timely kills. They received 36 in comparison to only 26 for DSC. The Falcons’ self-inflicted wounds hurt them more than anything, having 29 errors in total, in contrast to only 18 for Miami Dade.

Daytona State Men’s soccer looking to keep the ball rolling this past Friday, coming back home with 2 road wins. Taking on Louisiana State University-Eunice, the Falcons looked to claw up the NJCAA rankings. An uneventful first half was quite the opposite from the second half here in Daytona as sophomore Carlos Zambrano opened the scoring, netting his 3rd of the season just 6 minutes into the second half of action. Despite having the lead for a solid 18 minutes, the Bengals fought back from that deficit quickly, scoring in the 69th, 76th, and 79th minutes to contribute and eventually cap off the scoring as the Falcons dropped this one by a final score of 3-1.
Tuesday the 19th, DSC welcomed in Eastern Florida State, looking to bounce back from the loss against Louisiana State University-Eunice. Carlos Zambrano opened the scoring on a free kick with 15 minutes to go in the first half. However, this lead was short lived as the Titans answered with a free kick goal of their own just four minutes later. To open the second half, just a minute and 15 seconds in, Eastern Florida scored to take a 2-1 lead. An additional goal from Eastern Florida in crunch time added to their lead. Despite a late goal from Didier Jean Baptiste, the Titans closed the door and the Falcons drop back to back. The boys in blue now sit at 12th on the NJCAA rankings after this week’s contests.
The Falcon’s Women’s soccer team has been on fire lately. Things started off this week where the girls faced off against the Louisiana State University-Eunice Bengals. A tightly contested match between the 2 schools taking place in Panama City, with 11 shots combined for both sides. A fundamentally sound contest with essentially no room for error until Carsyn Petersen fed one to Sophomore Arianna Kinsely in the 37th minute to give Daytona State the lone goal of the match. This propelled the girls to the 3rd 7-0 start in school history.
Daytona State ends the week off at #4 in the NJCAA rankings as their match that was scheduled to take place on the road against Eastern Florida State had gotten postponed.
