The Beautiful Gate Café, located in Ormond Beach, is a Christian non-profit business with a mission of bringing God to this generation. The owner has a vision for bringing Christ to all people, regardless of race or age.
What I look for in a coffee shop is quiet, affordable, and one with a moral mission. A good quality place with a good ‘vibe.’ I want a clean place where I can sit in a corner studying and not be disturbed. I have tried several other coffee shops, but they all fell short of my expectations.
I heard from a friend about this amazing coffee shop that had great coffee/tea and the kindest owner, so I tried it out.
The whole place felt very welcoming, and I was greeted with a warm smile and a multicultural menu with beverages from all over the world. After ordering and receiving my caramel cappuccino, I retreated to a corner to read.
At first glance, this café is a swirl of the Middle East, Mexico, and America. There are different sections, open to all, featuring different cultures. One section that grabbed my eye was floor seating inspired by the Middle East.
The café was relatively quiet when I walked in and was mostly slow-moving. There was light Christian music playing quietly, which I thought was soothing. It got a little busy, but the rush only lasted about an hour, so I was able to resume reading. Upon going more often, I did find out that it is generally busiest Tuesday and Wednesday.
Depending on your order, prices range from $3 to $7 for drinks and $2 to $9 for food items. I got a cappuccino, which was around $4, but a regular coffee with cream and sugar is $3. Lattes and Arabic coffee cost a little more than other drinks.
As for food items, more common baked goods like muffins and cookies are around $2 and $3, whereas breakfast sandwiches are $6.
In my experience, The Beautiful Gate Café has amazing quality, and the workers are so nice. The owner made sure to add a little touch to make me feel special, from handwriting Bible verses on Togo cups to having colorful washcloths in the bathrooms.
The coffee beans come from a coffee roastery that gets its coffee from Cambodia to Ethiopia. They hand-make all their coffee flavors and make your food fresh and quickly.
The Beautiful Gate Café hires the kindest, most helpful employees, who are always willing to sit down and have a chat with you! It is also always clean and well-managed.
As a part of their non-profit business, The Beautiful Gate Café supports an organization called Rapha International. This organization helps save women and children from human trafficking by selling items like bracelets and purses that the women make to raise money.
The café has an area where you can buy some of these items, and all the money goes right to Rapha which has missions all over the world from Africa to New Zealand.
They even have a giant map of all the places they have given to through Rapha.
Overall, I really love this coffee shop, not only because it is Christian but also because it has everything, I look for in a coffee shop. It is important, kind, good quality, and a part of our community.
I love how it has an environment for everyone, especially college students. I will continue to keep supporting this business and its cause, and I hope others do as well.
