The long wait is over, Super Bowl 60, the big game is finally here. America’s most watched sporting event is set to kick off on Feb. 8th as the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots meet in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The Seahawks enter this game with Sam Darnold under center, an eight-year NFL veteran who has bounced around the league and is now in his first season in Seattle. Second-year head coach Mike Macdonald has got his defense firing on all cylinders these past four games with the Seahawks defense allowing under twelve points per game in that stretch.
The X-factor for Seattle in this game will be wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba as he will look to continue his impressive record-breaking campaign into Super Bowl Sunday. He was able to break the single-season record for receptions as well as receiving yards by a Seahawk this year and has carried that success into the postseason thus far with over one hundred-fifty yards and a touchdown in the NFC Championship last week.
The New England Patriots will look much different than they did during their last playoff run. The team was headlined by Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, while this year’s team will be led by rookie head coach Mike Vrabel and sophomore quarterback Drake Maye.
All the signs point to this matchup shaping up as an old-school, smash-mouth football game with Mike Vrabel’s unit coming alive in the playoffs, similar to Mike Macdonald with Seattle. The Patriots defense has been great all year allowing under nineteen points per game during the 2025-2026 season. In the playoffs however, New England has allowed under nine points per game, including holding the number one seeded Denver Broncos to just seven points and the Los Angeles Chargers to a measly three points in the Wild Card round.

This meeting also carries a little extra weight, as these two franchises last met on this stage in Super Bowl 49. That game is remembered for its dramatic finish, where then-Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw an interception at the one-yard line to Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler with under thirty seconds remaining, sealing the game for New England. More than a decade later, there is no doubt Seahawks fans are still seeking retribution.
Super Bowl betting always adds another layer of entertainment, with fans from across the country making picks on not only point spreads, but also fun traditions like the coin toss or even the Gatorade color. The Seahawks enter the game as 4.5-point favorites, though opinions appear to be split online. Still, with the talent and coaching on both sides, this game has all the makings of a close and entertaining battle.

As for students at Daytona State College, Seattle has emerged as the clear favorite to take home the Lombardi Trophy. The excitement extends far beyond the final score as well, with favorite traditions like the commercials or halftime show, sophomore Nathan Henning said, “looking forward to the Super Bowl party with friends and family,” as well as a Seahawks win.
The commercials are a favorite for many, including Josh Furbert who is going with Sam Darnold and the Seahawks in this one. Gabriela Solomon is also backing Seattle, with the halftime show and the players being her favorite part of watching the big game.
Overall, the Seahawks appear to be the popular choice among students on campus. From Daytona State to football fans around the country, the Super Bowl is an event that brings people together through shared traditions and the thrill of an electrifying face-off.
All the pieces are in place for an epic showdown, with the Seahawks and Patriots returning to the Super Bowl stage, adding to their storied past. No matter the outcome, fans should expect a fierce, hard-fought affair that will remind America why it is the cannot-miss sporting event of the year.
