The television show is a format people are all too familiar with. It gives the viewer the opportunity to witness a story or narrative within a longer format than a 2- to 3-hour movie.
With the intervals given between episodes of shows, a fanbase is more likely to grow when compared to movies, with anime being no exception.
Unfortunately, unlike the West where most novel adaptations are adapted fully, most anime from Japan are created to promote the manga or light novels, the original source material.
This sometimes leaves viewers waiting extended periods for more content or even never receiving it at all.
Of course, there are some exceptions, but the following being listed are anime that are widely agreed upon to deserve another season.
No Game No Life
A series that is often joked about receiving another season is “No Game No Life,” by Yuu Kamiya.
The series follows two game-addicted siblings, who are sent to the land of Disboard, a world where violence is prohibited and all conflicts are settled through games. This is a unique concept that is perfect for a visual adaptation like anime.
However, due to a plagiarism issue with the anime’s first season, which has been resolved, the anime series has been left out to dry with the only exception being a prequel movie.
Given the popularity the show has and the amount of source material available, a new season would be possible and greatly welcomed.
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Another popular series that got an anime adaptation almost a decade ago but has seemingly been canceled is “Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.”
Unfortunately, this is an example of when an anime is made purely to promote the series manga or other related products.
With the manga officially concluded, and the anime having two seasons, something an anime made for promotion would rarely have, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic seems to be a perfect show to return.
Magi: Adventures of Sinbad
On the topic of the Magi series, it’s no question that the anime “Magi: Adventures of Sinbad” would be next on this list.
This series takes place around ten years before the events of “Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic,”following the charismatic Sinbad on his journey to not only create his future kingdom of Sindria, but to become one of the most powerful characters in the entire series.
Here we see him interact with future side characters that appear in the original series, which help him rule Sindria.
Despite getting low views upon the first season’s release in 2016 by Netflix, the anime has the capacity to grow as much love as its original series has, especially since the manga has concluded as well.
Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Finally, we have the 2011 version anime adaptation of Hunter x Hunter!
Another beloved anime series that has been on hiatus since 2014, or 2019 for English dub. Unlike most of the series mentioned on this list, the anime has a genuine reason as to why it is on hiatus.
The author of the manga, Yoshihiro Togashi, has been having back problems. Despite this causing a slower pace, Togashi is adamant on continuing the series until he dies.
With this being the case, it is possible that after the conclusion of the current arc in the manga, fans will immediately wish to see it animated, especially the long-awaited fight of two antagonistic characters.
