Editor in Chief
Hello everyone, I am Marina Meretz, and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to edit and write for In Motion. I will be graduating from DSC with my AA in the spring and transferring to a state university for fall of ‘24. I have a passion for writing, and I hope to become a wonderful journalist serving my community someday. Outside of school, I work part time at a boutique in Downtown Deland. In my free time I love to read, go to the gym, hang out with my friends, listen to music, and occasionally sing along. I hope you enjoy reading my stories, many of which can be found under Feature or Arts and Entertainment. Y a la comunidad Hispana, espero que disfruten mis articulos en Español.
Managing Editor
My name is Isabel Kraby and I am in my freshman year here at Daytona State. I am taking courses to earn my Associates of Arts degree and I plan to transfer to another state college upon getting my degree in the spring. Journalism is my intended major and after being an editor for my high school yearbook and now In Motion, this career path is something I am passionate about pursuing. Aside from this publication, other interests of mine are music and art; I am currently learning the drums and am an avid crocheter. You’ll probably notice many of my articles in the Arts & Entertainment section.
Staff Writer
Hi everyone my name is Lucas Macdowall and I am beyond appreciative to have the chance to write for In Motion. I am the sports writer as sports have been my passion since I could walk, both watching and playing my entire life. As of now I am currently working towards completing my AA degree by spring of 2024 and plan to transfer to either UNF or UF, with aspirations to go into a sports-related field. Aside from school, I work at Nike part-time and enjoy watching sports with my family, mainly football, soccer, and hockey. Additionally, I like working out and playing video games with my friends. Thank you for taking the time to read my articles!
Staff Reporter
Hi! My name is Teia Williams, and I am a reporter for In Motion at Daytona State College. I’m so grateful to be given the chance to write for you all to see. I can’t wait to learn and grow while my time is here. This is my first full term at DSC, I’m working towards my AA degree currently. In fall 2025 I plan to attend the University of Florida to go on to be a journalist. Writing is one of my biggest passions but there are many more things in the world that I love. On my free time I’m usually by the water somewhere. I go paddle boarding often and love learning new activities outdoors. In terms of my future, I want to experience the world by traveling and meeting new people. That’s enough about me, I’m excited to write for you all, and I hope you enjoy.

Hi there, my name is Landen Looker. I have had a fantastic time writing for InMotion this semester! I will be graduating from Daytona State College this summer with my Associate of Arts degree. I plan to intern over the summer at a marketing firm, before transferring to Flagler College in the fall of 2024! InMotion has been a huge part of developing my interest in marketing. I currently work as a manager at Ohana Food Co, and I manage several social media accounts! In my free time I enjoy surfing, roller skating, creating films, and doing yoga. Many of my stories are driven by my curiosity, and I hope you find them intriguing!

Webmaster
Hi, I’m Iuliana, a computer science major currently pursuing my AA degree at Daytona State College. I’m on a path to transfer to the University of Florida or MIT (still undecided) to get my Bachelor’s and eventually earn a Ph.D. in computer science. Following that, I plan to start my own tech company and work as a backend engineer. I’m also an avid bookworm, and I often think I’d spend the rest of my life reading if society considered it a profession. In the meantime, I’m proud to be a member of In Motion!
Dr. T
Advisor
Thank you for visiting our website! I’m Dr. Harun Karim Thomas, Dr. T for short, and I’m starting my fourth year as advisor of In Motion. When I was an undergraduate journalism and English major at the University of Florida, one of several favorite English professors, Dr. Amitava Kumar, once said that I’d end up returning to journalism. Here I am—and I’m beyond excited to work with this current crew of committed journalists. In my spare time, I play drums, read, write, watch fútbol and football, and travel to visit my kids, who attend universities in North Carolina and Connecticut. I’m currently working on a short story and starting a project with a friend that examines coaching at the college level and economics.
