At the age of twenty-one, Chris Evers has made quite the name for himself at Daytona State College and in the community. Evers was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, and moved to Florida in his teen years. His hometown inspired his stage name, Saint Lumo. Chris started at DSC in the Fall of 2020 as a sound engineering student, and he has been thriving in the program for the past two years, while also working to achieve his dreams as a musician.
His love for music started at a young age. He was involved in band in elementary school and started orchestra in high school, where he played the upright bass. That’s when he started getting serious about his music and knew it was the right path for him to take. “Chris’s music career is something very personal to him, and I really feel like he portrays that in the music he writes,” his younger sister Chloe Evers said. “He is completely genuine, and has literally always stayed true to himself.”
In July of 2020 he released two songs, “Tell Me You Love Me Still” and “The Story of You and I,” both of which received great feedback from peers, as well as listeners online. Feedback from others isn’t everything to Evers, though. While he does want listeners to enjoy his music, he says, “True validation comes from yourself.”
Evers plans on continuing his music journey after college and hopes to find himself financially stable in the industry. Making music isn’t just about the money to him though. “I do it because I really do enjoy it,” he said. “The process of making a song and the euphoric feeling of that is just unmatched.”
Evers has started doing live shows to help put his name and music out there. His first one was on April 15 this year, in Gainesville and he has more scheduled. His new EP, “My Feelings to the World,” was also released on April 15, widening his selection of songs to play at the shows.
His music is offered on all platforms under Saint Lumo.
