Daytona State College celebrated Homecoming Week 2022 with various on-campus events.
Kicking off a fun-filled week on October 6th, Student Life hosted Falcon Movie Night featuring the film “Thor: Love and Thunder” at the Daytona campus’ Nunamann Landing. Students attending the event were also able to enjoy pizza, popcorn, and make their own s’mores using the firepits surrounding the clock tower.
For the second day of Homecoming Week, students gathered at the Soccer Stadium for the Alumni & Friends Social and the Friday Night Fiesta. While showing support for the Men’s Soccer Game that was held later that night, guests enjoyed a complimentary dinner featuring nachos, burritos, and tacos. DSC’s Beverage and Science Program also made an appearance, serving fiesta-themed beer samples for attendees 21 and older.
But the night was far from over. Students dressed to impress for a night at the Homecoming Ball. Hosted by the college’s Falcon Dance Club, the event was held in the Hosseini Center, where attendees had fun socializing on the dance floor and enjoying refreshments.
“It really helped me connect and chat with my peers in a very fun and different atmosphere,” said Maya El Ghali, one of the student attendees.
Starting bright and early for the last day of Homecoming Week, Daytona State College hosted its Catch the Falcon 5K event. Students and their families raced against each other to catch their favorite mascot, Freddie the Falcon.
Arjon Abdurahman, a member of DSC’s cross-country team, spoke of his experience at the Falcon 5K. “I had a great time running with so many students and alumni. Most of the guys on my team were there too, and overall, we really enjoyed it.”
