Daytona State’s Music Industry Club is working on growing their podcast audience and team to help get it back to its roots.
“I really want students involved to learn about the broadcast business and be able to apply skills they learn from running the podcast in real life, this is something that can also be put on a resume,” Gabe Stevanus, MIC secretary and podcast coordinator, said.
The podcast started when the Music Industry Club did and has now been taken over by current president Julien Collins. Current members of MIC have different roles and have been featured on past podcast episodes. The episodes are interactive and informative, along with bringing the fun back to learning. In a previous podcast episode, they held a game of Jeopardy where three different MIC students competed on their own game show.
The podcasts are a great way for students in “the MIC” club to put themselves out there. During some past episodes, they have had an audience of over 100 viewers, making a good starting point for the recognition of artists at Daytona State.
“The podcast has been one of the best networking opportunities for myself and other students, just being able to get on and talk with other students in the program is great,” Stevanus said, “It’s also a staple of the MIC club that a lot of students are passionate about.”
The podcasts are posted every Thursday, on their YouTube channel- Music Industry Club DSC. They plan to grow their team, audience, and the number of podcasts released every week.
